About the Role
We are looking for a proven Marketing Communications Director who can own communications at Mavenlink from strategy to execution. You will lead the talented marketing communications team and oversee the voice of the Mavenlink brand, including all corporate and marketing communications, media relations, contributed articles, Mavenlink’s owned editorial program, social channels, creative for campaigns, executive speaking calendar, and corporate events. You will also collaborate with leaders and teams across departments to facilitate proactive, consistent, and on-brand communications across Mavenlink’s numerous channels.

The primary responsibilities for this position include:
  • Develop a comprehensive communications strategy reaching Mavenlink’s external audiences, including the development of a narrative, points-of-view, and storylines to support company positioning and awareness-building goals. 

  • Own and manage the brand identity, including visual and written assets that convey brand image and voice. 

  • Build strategy and lead team to support development of a sustainable, multi-channel content engine that builds awareness and organic traffic for Mavenlink. 

  • Manage the day-to-day creation and delivery of marketing and corporate communications through owned and earned content channels, including web, blog, digital editorial media, paid media, social, email, and display media.
 
  • Own and manage media relations.   

  • Develop content to support content needs of demand generation, product marketing, and other company stakeholders through the development of effective creative and journalistic content for web, email, digital advertising, collateral, webinars, and more.  

  • Develop and execute an agile marketing communications plan, including metrics to measure success.

  • Identify and champion new opportunities to drive engagement and lead generation. 

  • Implement communications policies and standards. 

  • Author high-profile content, including reports, ebooks, white papers, press releases and executive contributed articles.

  • Manage, grow, and mentor Mavenlink’s marketing communications team. 

  • Oversee external agency priorities, deliverables, and performance. 


About You
The ideal candidate for this role is a sophisticated communicator, with outstanding writing skills, who understands how to shape the overall arc of a company narrative. You should have an innate talent for understanding how to tailor communications based on the audience, speaker, and intended business goal.

Experience running communications or marketing for a fast-paced organization is a must. The ability to quickly switch tasks, set expectations, and adapt to changing priorities will help you thrive.

You need to be highly proactive and self-directed; on a day-to-day basis, you’ll often set your own agenda. Lastly, strong people skills are essential: you’ll be working closely with team members ranging from entry-level staff to senior executives.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years in Marketing Communications, including 2+ years leading a team 

  • A successful track record of leading marketing or corporate communications for a rapidly-growing company

  • Superlative writing and editing skills for a professional audience

  • Expert-knowledge in leveraging modern digital channels for brand awareness building 

  • Fluency managing all major B2B communication channels, including email, social media, web, and print

  • Experience managing a team’s daily activities

  • Proven ability to direct strategy, plan its execution, and pitch in to meet deadlines

  • Ability to effectively work with senior executives and advocate for your recommended priorities and tactics

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships


Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Experience managing communications and/or public relations for a B2B Software as a Service (SaaS) company

  • Experience sourcing and managing freelance writers and/or agencies

  • Experience working in or communicating with professional services businesses (marketing agencies, consulting firms, software implementation teams, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing
