About the Role:  
Mavenlink is looking for an experienced VP of Human Resources based in our Irvine, CA headquarters, who is passionate about company culture and scaling teams in a high-growth business.  The successful candidate will guide and drive the long-term vision and strategy of the people and culture function.  The VP of HR will also be responsible for the related implementation of key strategic people initiatives, ensuring that Mavenlink has the talent and culture in place to deliver on our ambitious goals and long-term vision.  The ideal candidate will be a strategic, yet "hands-on" leader who has a track record of leading teams to the highest level of execution and possesses a broad knowledge of all aspects of human resources.  The VP of HR will be a highly collaborative and effective influencer across all levels of the organization and is experienced at partnering with top executives to create a positive organizational culture in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your Responsibilities and Impact: 

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive Human Resources strategy that integrates and closely aligns with the business strategy.
  • Act as an influential strategist and advisor who enables business and employee success by owning end-to-end execution of all HR functions: Workforce Planning, HR Operations, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational & People Development.
  • Translates the strategic and tactical business plans and programs into human resource strategic and operational plans and implements and manages them to achieve designated goals and objectives.
  • Continually strives to improve all HR processes and programs and identify and implement new initiatives.
  • Serving as a visible, involved, and engaged leader to employees throughout the organization.
  • Coach and influence people at all levels of the organization and support them in realizing their maximum potential.
  • Provide advice and guidance on performance management including leadership development, accelerated development, succession planning, coaching talent reviews, and terminations.
  • Drive informed decision making by using data to identify trends; work with business leaders to determine root cause of issues and develop organizational effective solutions.
  • Develop workforce planning strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other leaders across the business.
  • Work collaboratively across departments and functions to identify and solve problems and achieve organizational goals.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
  • Directs the development and administration of proactive and progressive compensation and benefits programs to attract, motivate, incentivize, and recognize effective performance.
  • Ensure that all HR policies and programs are compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for investigating, monitoring, and resolving complex employee situations from origin to conclusion while minimizing organizational risk. 
  • Manages the unit's budget and is responsible for the financial performance of the human resources unit.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of 4 exempt-level HR professionals.
  • Evaluate the HR department structure and plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as for providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial/organizational psychology, human resource management, business or a related field.  Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Have 10 to 15 years of related HR experience and/or training with at least five-plus years as an HR leader in high-growth environments and/or mid-size organizations, having played a key role in the maturation/scaling process
  • 5+ years experience successfully coaching leaders up at the VP or C-suite levels
  • Have the business acumen to understand the fiscal and operational realities of all policies and procedures
  • Emotionally intelligent and able to build strong trust with leaders and employees of diverse backgrounds and situations at all levels
  • A consummate coach who gets personal fulfillment by succeeding through others and developing leaders, and have successfully managed people leaders before
  • Be a superior communicator and through using excellent judgment and tact, able to successfully communicate challenging messages in crucial conversations
  • Understand the consultative nature of the role, with an ability to influence staff and outcomes not directly within line of reporting
  • Motivated by challenges and bring a positive tone, an eye for solutions and an energy for rolling up your sleeves and doing whatever needs to be done
  • Always questioning the status quo, as you look for opportunities to innovate and break convention where you think better results can be achieved
  • Naturally combining judgment and intuition and a constant curiosity for more data and evidence in order to draw the best conclusions and shape the best path forward

  • Know how to hire and motivate teams, build a great culture, and leveraging your first-hand knowledge, successfully scale an HR organization and practice to world-class standards
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and openness amongst colleagues and clients together with a reputation for high personal integrity.
  • Ability to build consensus, rally support around common goals or competing priorities.  Ability to overcome obstacles to cooperation and to foster harmonious relations.
  • Previous experience in a startup environment and/or in a rapidly scaling business where you are familiar with high growth, changing needs, and supporting team members in a holistic way
  • Respected just as much for your business judgment as for your HR expertise
  • Experience working with company boards and Compensation Committee
  • SHRM-SCP certification a plus
