The Role

Role Overview

The Corporate Controller will be an integral part of the finance and accounting team and report to the CFO. The Corporate Controller oversees general accounting and reporting, external and internal audit coordination, payroll, accounts payable, expense report audit, balance sheet management, tax and treasury matters. The Corporate Controller is responsible for all accounting policies & procedures, financial statements and footnotes, reporting and controls. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this highly-skilled individual leads the Controllership organization and partners cross-functionally with leadership to ensure priorities are aligned with corporate objectives and appropriate financial controls.

The ideal candidate will ensure the application of sound accounting practices and initiate process improvements, demonstrate proficiency in areas related to the technical accounting interpretation and financial reporting and communicate clearly with all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting team on a daily basis. Provide leadership, training and development to the team and financial infrastructure to keep up with the demands of the business.
  • Responsible for accuracy over the financial reports of the company for CFO, CEO, and the Board.
  • Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained while overseeing the Accounting Department.
  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software.
  • Manage Treasury function with all banks and accounts to ensure proper funding based on current needs.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and efficiencies and communicate these opportunities to senior management.
  • Responsible for systems implementations that affect financial status of the business.
  • Review non-routine transactions, determine accounting treatment, and develop necessary policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for all matters related to state, federal and international corporate income tax filings and reporting.
  • Manage corporate insurance policies including annual renewal process and coverage levels.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external financial and banking audits with related parties.
Qualifications
  • 8-10 years of experience with a minimum of 3-5 years in a Controller role
  • Big 4 background and CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong mix of both Public and Private Experience
Education and Experience Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Blend of public accounting experience (ideally Big 4 background) and private industry experience preferred. CPA a plus.
  • Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles.
Experience:
  • 8-10 years of work experience in Accounting.
  • Experience with Software-as-a Service (SaaS) companies a plus.
  • Previous experience implementing financial systems integrations and optimizations (ERP, Expense Management, Procure to Pay, Sales Tax) a plus.
  • High degree of proficiency with NetSuite (especially the Advanced Revenue Module), Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Background working in Private Equity and/or Venture Capital backed companies a strong plus.
  • Experience with foreign subsidiaries a plus.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous simultaneous priorities.
  • High energy, independent thinker, high ownership of work product and dedication and commitment to driving results.
  • Ability to work well in high pressure situations in order to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong business partnering and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions.
